Les 20 et 21 novembre 2025, la Cité de la Culture de Tunis a accueilli le Forum méditerranéen de l’intelligence artificielle (FMIA 2025), un rendez-vous d’envergure réunissant chercheurs, décideurs, entrepreneurs et acteurs de la société civile autour d’une question centrale :

« Quelles solutions l’IA peut-elle apporter aux grands défis méditerranéens ? »

Madame Wadad Wazen Gergy, Directrice du Centre de l’Innovation Numérique et de l’Intelligence Artificielle (CINIA) à l’Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, y a été invitée à animer le panel intitulé « Former les talents en IA et bâtir une inclusion numérique régionale ».

Ce panel a réuni plusieurs personnalités du monde académique et de l’innovation — parmi elles Amina Bouzguenda Zeghal (Université Paris-Dauphine Tunis), Yahia Bouhlel (GOMYCODE), Asma Ennaifer (Orange Digital Centers) et Taoufik Jelassi (UNESCO).

Les échanges ont porté sur la formation des compétences en intelligence artificielle, la coopération Nord–Sud, et les moyens de réduire la fracture numérique tout en favorisant une IA inclusive et éthique dans l’espace méditerranéen.

À travers cette participation, le CINIA-USJ a confirmé son rôle actif dans la construction d’un écosystème méditerranéen du numérique, fondé sur l’éducation, l’innovation responsable et la coopération régionale.

Le Forum a également abordé sept thématiques majeures : le changement climatique, la santé globale, l’éducation, l’agriculture durable, les défis culturels, la gouvernance éthique et le financement de l’innovation.

Ce rendez-vous a été l’occasion d’affirmer la place du Liban et du CINIA dans les réflexions internationales sur une intelligence artificielle au service du développement humain, de la durabilité et de l’inclusion régionale.

On November 20 and 21, 2025, the Cité de la Culture in Tunis hosted the Mediterranean Artificial Intelligence Forum (FMIA 2025) — a major gathering bringing together researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and civil society representatives around a central question:

“What solutions can AI offer to address the major challenges of the Mediterranean region?”

Mrs. Wadad Wazen Gergy, Director of the Center for Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (CINIA) at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, was invited to moderate the panel entitled “Training AI Talents and Building Regional Digital Inclusion.”

The panel brought together several leading figures from academia and innovation — among them Amina Bouzguenda Zeghal (Université Paris-Dauphine Tunis), Yahia Bouhlel (GOMYCODE), Asma Ennaifer (Orange Digital Centers), and Taoufik Jelassi (UNESCO).

Discussions focused on AI skills development, North–South cooperation, and strategies to reduce the digital divide while promoting an inclusive and ethical approach to artificial intelligence across the Mediterranean region.

Through this participation, CINIA-USJ reaffirmed its active role in building a Mediterranean digital ecosystem grounded in education, responsible innovation, and regional cooperation.

The Forum also addressed seven key themes: climate change, global health, education, sustainable agriculture, cultural challenges, ethical governance, and innovation financing.

This event served as an opportunity to highlight the role of Lebanon and CINIA in international discussions on artificial intelligence for human development, sustainability, and regional inclusion.
